In North Webster Parish of Louisiana, an operator’s well was completed in the Buckrange formation at 4500 feet. Over time Paraffin build up caused the sucker rods to seize, in turn causing the bridle to be thrown off the pump jack head and the well to be shut in. Previous to the shut in, the well was producing 6 Barrels of Oil Per Day (BOPD) of 24 API gravity Crude.

SAFDEPARwas selected to remove the Paraffin and free the sucker rod.

Two (2) gallons of SAFDEPARwas poured directly down the tubing, and three (3) gallons was poured down the annulus. The well was shut in, and the SAFDEPARwas allowed to soak overnight.

The next morning, the bridle was re-strung and the pump was turned on, putting the well back online. The first stroke of the pump started slowly, but as the pump progressed it s tarted returning to normal and by the tenth (10) stroke, the pump was at normal speed. The tubing was then pulled and found to be free and clear of any Paraffin.. The tubing was put back and normal operations resumed.

Initial production after treatment was 8 BOPD, yielding a 25% increase in production from the previous norm. The well drifted back down to 6 BOPD over a 3 month period. A 1-2 gallon treatment of SAFDEPAR was then utilized every 7 to 10 days improving production back to 8 BOPD each time.
