SAFDEPAR  RECLAIMS  2500  BARRELS  OF  PARAFFIN  FOR  A  MIDSTREAM  OPERATOR.  HAUL  OFF  AND  DISPOSAL  COSTS  ELIMINATED.

Operator Issue & Background:

A midstream company in Frio County in South Texas had a 20,000 barrel storage tank (with floating top) with paraffin deposits. The tank had approximately 4,700 barrels of crude oil combined with paraffin. The paraffin content was approximately 2500 barrels. The sample thief could not reach the bottom of the tank due to paraffin formation in the downcomer. The tank is 35 feet tall and the thief would only go down 20 feet before hitting a paraffin plug. This situation had existed for several years.

Treatment Procedure:

20 gallons of SAFDEPAR were poured into the downcomer from the top and 465 gallons of SAFDEPAR were fed into the tank during one circulation to ensure even coverage. The tank was hard piped with suction and injection points to the tank located 180 degrees apart. The tank was circulated for several days.

Results of Treatment:

Circulation of the tank with SAFDEPAR removed the paraffin that had been plugging the downcomer for years. The operator can now use the downcomer for sampling and gauging purposes. The line for pulling water off the bottom of the tank had been plugged with paraffin but was now operational. Additionally, approximately 2500 barrels of paraffin were put back into solution creating sellable product for the customer AND saving thousands in clean up costs. Water content before treatment was 2-3% before treatment and 0 after treatment.

Safety, Treatment Options and Packaging:

SAFDEPAR can be used to treat Paraffin deposits in tank batteries, pipelines and downhole tubulars. Squeeze jobs with SAFDEPARcan treat Paraffin deposits in the wellbore and formation. SAFDEPAR is shipped as a Non-Hazardous Product and is available in 55 gallon drums or 275 gallon totes. SAFDEPAR has passed the LC50 test for shrimp and is safe for use around water (Inland Barges and Offshore Platforms).
